General Meetings

Higher education professionals gather each month at one of our member institutions to eat, drink, and be merry. There is a presentation by either the host institution—or an invited guest—about an issue impacting our entire field. Following the presentation, the Executive Officers give brief reports on their respective areas, and general announcements are made (i.e. upcoming events, job announcements, etc.).

Conference Committee Meetings

In the months leading up to the Annual Conference in November, the Conference Committee convenes immediately following the conclusion of General Meetings (essentially February–October). Facilitated by the Conference Chair, subcommittees are formed such as Logistics, Educational Sessions, Assessment, Registration, Awards, Sponsorships, etc. Each subcommittee chair provides a report to enhance communication and ensure a successful Annual Conference.

Round Table Discussions

LICSPA sponsors guided discussions pertaining to areas of higher education throughout the year. Previous topics have included Fraternity/Sorority Life, Student Conduct, Title IX, Campus Recreation & Athletics, Public Safety, etc. These round tables serve as an outstanding catalyst for inter-institutional communication on best practices for enhancing the student experience.

Social Series

The purpose of this association is to get connected with one another—that’s why we are introducing a series of social events—which is simply “professional lingo” for happy hour. Come and enjoy a few drinks while connecting with new people in the field!

Symposium

A panel is formed to discuss a hot topic of higher education for a half-day event each April. Typically seated on the panel are senior administrators from our member institutions who have volunteered to weigh in on the selected topic through the lens of their own diverse experiences.

Annual Conference

The pinnacle of LICSPA events—the Annual Conference! Dating back to 1980, the Annual Conference has provided invaluable education, professional development, and networking opportunities strongly sought after by higher educational professionals. Each November we gather at one of our member institutions for keynote addresses, break-out educational workshops, and our annual awards ceremony.

Annual Business Meeting

Following the Annual Conference, LICSPA members meet in December for a final report from the Executive Officers, and to discuss impactful changes to our association for a brighter future. The Annual Business Meeting concludes with the election of new Executive Officers.
